Derby County hope Ikechi Anya will be available for Saturday's friendly against Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose.
A bout of illness ruled Anya out of Tuesday night's 4-0 victory over Kidderminster Harriers.
"On Monday morning he rang the doctor and said he was feeling unwell but we are hoping he will be in contention for Saturday," said Derby County manager Gary Rowett.
"Ikechi trained really well while we were away in Tenerife. He is a player with terrific energy and one of the players with great versatility."
Derby will check on the fitness of left back Max Lowe ahead of the Macclesfield game.
Lowe recenty returned to training following an abdominal strain that troubled him last season but he then picked up a knock.

"Max got a little knock in training but he has only just come back to training. It is nothing serious," said Rowett.
